Our animals are exposed to lots of sunshine and fresh air. Springfield Farm Photos Free-Range Heritage, Broad-Breasted White and Broad-Breasted Bronze turkeys are raised on natural grains for an exceptional holiday meal. Because of the high demand for these birds, please pre-order by September 30th to guarantee your bird. People come from all over the Baltimore and DC Metro area, and from as far away as New Jersey for our turkeys. Currently, we do not ship. Our hens produce more than 100 dozen eggs per day, which are gathered twice a day, washed and sorted by hand. They are collected, washed and refrigerated immediately, eliminating the possibility of development. Eggs include chicken, and seasonally duck, and goose. Our beef are pasture-raised and given access to grain during the last several months before processing. Individual cuts, split sides, sides, and whole steers are available at the farm. Please call or e-mail for availability for more than individually packaged cuts. Generally, split sides, sides and whole steers take two to three weeks from date of order. The three-generation operation is run entirely by the Smith family, their children, and their grandchildren. The farm has been in the family for seventeen generations. The grandchildren have their own interests in the farm. Danielle, Rachel and David run the Pig and Lamb (PL) Project.  All of the animals raised on Springfield Farm are free-range, and are moved from pasture to pasture to ensure that they always have the freshest grasses. Meats sold include chicken, duck, goose (seasonally), turkey, beef, lamb and rabbit. Up to 30% of the chickens’ intake is salad bar greens (pasture grass), insects, etc., just as nature intended. They could live wholly on what they are able to forage, but the diet is supplemented with a natural mix of locally grown corn, soybeans, other grains, calcium, vitamins, etc., to keep them healthy and happy.
